Don't let this be you.
Hey, glow big or go home, am I right?
Guys, getting a good, but healthy tan is really tough, and an almost a monumental balancing act. How do I bronze without burning? How do I catch a few rays without catching melanoma? How do I become Medium Rare without becoming too Well Done.
Thankfully, there's a way to make a lasting "skinvestment," so to speak, that will make you radiant, and not radioactive.
But don't take my word for it. Thankfully, skincare expert for the entertainment elite, Francesca Paige, has some helpful hints on how to get a "No Sun Glow."
So, if you're trying to find a way not to regret being exposed to that fiery orb in the sky for too long, you've come to the right place. Sit back, relax, pour some wine, pour some SPF 15, and heed this great advice.
1. Polish your skin. Do it. Now. I'll wait.
You're back? Good. According to Francesca, polishing is essential to acquiring that glowing skin that will be the talk of the town.
Here's what she had to say about the benefits of skin polishing.
"Start with polishing the body with a dry brush or using a Korean spa mitt in the shower. It's a great way to smooth the skin and stimulate blood flow. Professionally speaking, an appointment for a Body Polish including microdermabrasion and acid wash is, hands down, a favorite of many of my clients. Your skin will be silky smooth and ready for your tanning product, whether professionally applied or your own home version."
Whoa, so basically polishing your skin prepares it for interacting with the sun? I never knew that!
2. Apply Tanner. No, I don't mean use a quote from Full House.
Thankfully, Francesca offers a few options on how to get this done in perfect time for the start of Summer:
"My favorite home version is Jergens Natural Glow. It's easy to apply, dries quickly and leaves no streaks. For a professional, organic spray tan in Los Angeles, I swear by Sun Kissed by Jenni. It looks so natural and she does house calls, too!"
Excuse me, while I go to CVS and buy all the bottles of Jergens Natural Glow available. I'll be right back.
3. Lastly, and most importantly, stay protected. And that goes for more than just sun exposure, if you know what I mean. Wink.
Growing up, my dad taught me to fear the sun. I always thought he was exaggerating about the harmful effects of UV rays, but as a skin cancer survivor, my dad was right.
Similarly, Francesca points out that the sun is a lot more dangerous than we might think:
"When you are out in the sun, keep your glowing skin protected! In addition to applying sunscreen, I recommend the great umbrellas at The Brelli – they take your beach and poolside looks to another level. So chic! I also love Cabana Life for their large selection of 50+ UV protection clothing and swimwear. Please note, umbrellas or cover-ups do not take the place of your daily sunscreen. Finally, I recommend visiting skincancer.org to find out how much sun protection the clothing you already own can give you. You'll be surprised!"
Well put, Francesca. I believe that if you balance these three steps, you can safely get your "No Sun Glow" on! Francesca's skincare product prowess can't be denied too. Here is some feedback from people you might have heard of before.
Here's Kesha meeting up with Francesca! My guess is that Francesca would advise no one to brush their teeth or skin with a bottle of Jack.
