This is equal parts heartwarming and despicable.
25 years, 24-year-old Andre Hatchet was arrested and convicted for the murder of woman in Bedstuy, Brooklyn. And yes, he was on crutches at the time of the murder, and the testimony that identified him was given by someone who had been arrested a week after the murder, and who ID-ed someone else first. Something the prosecution never told the defense.
Well, Andre, who has an IQ of 63, is now finally released back into society, and I for one wish him all the best.
And I also hope that he sues for millions and gets to live out his life in some sort of mansion. 25 years is too long for an innocent man to be placed behind bars.
The idea that it can happen, and that the process of exoneration can last for over 2 decades.
